SERVICES

Annie Maxim House offers two programs serving Rochester and its seven abutting towns of Acushnet, Freetown, Lakeville, Marion, Mattapoisett, Middleboro and Wareham Massachusetts.

ANNIE MAXIM HOUSE RESIDENCE

AMH consists of 12  apartments, as available, to qualifying individuals and married couples ages 62+ being of slender means. Each 500 sq. feet unit provides a bedroom; bathroom; living area; and kitchenette. All residences have a small front yard to enjoy and a private entrance. Common areas include a laundry room, a library/game room with computer, a dining area, a living room and a screened-in porch. Outdoors a courtyard overlooks Snipatuit Pond. Paved walkways are located throughout the grounds. Residents enjoy outings, in-house concerts, cookouts and inter-generational activities with children.

AMH is an independent living facility; we do NOT offer assistance with most activities of daily living. There is no overnight or weekend staff. Residents are expected to be able to prepare their own meals, tend to their own personal care, be able to manage medications independently and maintain a clean and tidy apartment. Assistance with housekeeping or laundry, and transportation to shopping centers or appointments is available if needed. Dinner is served Monday through Thursday, and lunch is provided on Friday to  encourage friendships and build a sense of community.

The AMH is a private residence. Out of respect for the needs and wishes of our residents, we are not open for tours to prospective residents or the general public. If an applicant is granted residency, AMH will provide a tour prior to relocation to the apartment.

The AMH Resident Association enables our residents to give back to our community. Each month they provide donations to help those in need.

STANDARDS OF CLEANLINESS

The AMH Housing Assistance Program (HAP) provides financial assistance for small-scale home repairs to those who are of slender means. Such repairs enhance the health, safety and quality of life for homeowners 62+ years of age who reside in our service area. Examples of projects that have been funded and built through HAP include fixing stairs to enhance safety; installation of railings and grab bars; funding for wheelchair ramps; replacing tiles in bathtubs, installing a chair lift or air conditioning, and repairs to windows. HAP accepts only licensed and insured contractors for each project. HAP staff conduct a home visit to ensure the repair can be addressed through our organization prior to the project being approved. HAP reviews the contractor estimate and makes a final decision as to the amount HAP will provide toward the repair. Typical assistance is approximately $2,500 per household per year.
